Funny Laws In Various States

Laws! We have to obey them. Federal, state, and municipal. Sometimes they frustrate us. We'd like to drive just a little faster, pay lower taxes, or fix the problems within education or the insurance industry. But...there are some silly or crazy laws still on the books today in every state that we should be very glad are not being enforced today. Here are some examples.

Alabama

You may not wrestle a bear.
It is illegal to have an ice cream cone in your back pocket.
It is illegal to spit orange peels onto sidewalks.
A person is allowed only 5 minutes to fill out a voting ballot.
Dominoes may not be played on Sunday.

Alaska

It is illegal to look at a moose from an airplane.
It is illegal to push a moose out of a moving airplane.
No one can possess a bow and arrow within the city limits.
A person may not take their pet into a barber shop.
You may not deny someone a glass of water.

Arizona

Donkeys may not sleep in bathtubs.
Hunting camels is prohibited.
No more than six girls may live in any house.
If you cut down a cactus you could be sentenced for up to 25 years in prison.

No one may suddenly start or stop their car at McDonalds.
Arkansas must be pronounced "Arkansaw".

California

Anyone wishing to keep a rhinoceros as a pet must obtain a $100 license first.
Growing oleander plants is illegal.
Driving a herd of cattle down the street is illegal.
It is illegal to eat a frog that died during a frog jumping contest.

Destin, Florida law says that a cat that viciously chases people is a "bad cat".
Fiddlers and stay at home dads are considered vagrants.
If an elephant is tied to a parking meter, the parking fee must be paid just as it would be for a car.

Georgia

Chickens can not cross the road in Quitman.
In Atlanta, Georga, you can not let your pubic hair grow past 6 inches.

Idaho

A man may not give his fiance a box of candy that weighs more than 50 pounds.
In Idaho, it is illegal to ride a motorcycle if you are a 90 year old man.

Minnesota

Red cars can not drive down Lake Street in Minneapolis.
In Shakopee, Minnesota, it is illegal to bulldoze a house when 5 or more cats occupy the ventilation system.
You may not cross state lines with a duck on your head.

Mississippi
A person who disturbs a church service can be subjected to a citizen's arrest.

New Mexico

It is not allowed for a female to be unshaven in public.

North Carolina

Bingo games can not last more than 5 hours.
It is illegal to sing off key.

Oklahoma

It is illegal to take a bite out of a person's hamburger without their permission first.


Ohio

Police are allowed to bite a dog if they think it will calm the dog down in Paulding.
It is illegal to fish for whales on Sunday.

Rhode Island

You can not sell toothpaste and a toothbrush to the same customer on a Sunday
Professional sports may not be played on Sunday.

Tennessee

In Tennessee, it is illegal to import, possess, cause to be imported, or sell a skunk.

Texas

It's illegal to sell your eyeballs.

Utah

It is illegal for cousins to marry but only if they are younger than 65.
It is mandatory to drink milk.

Washington

You are not allowed to buy meat on Sunday.
It is illegal to harass bigfoot or any other undiscovered species.

These are just a fraction of the many crazy laws in the US that were imposed and have never been removed. It is amazing that these laws were even considered as necessary, but lawmakers at some time decided that they were important to the safety of society. Do you know what laws you might be breaking?
